Record of commissions for Commissioners of Deeds, 1905-1948.

The series contains commission certificates of persons in various states and the District of Columbia appointed to act as Commissioners of Deeds from 1905 to 1948. These officers certified any Florida land or real estate transactions that may have occurred outside of the State of Florida. These certifications made the out- of-state transactions legal in Florida. An index to the commission certificates is located at the front of the volume.

The County Guards were created in 1917 (Ch. 7292, Laws) by the Florida Legislature to replace the National Guard of Florida which had been activated for European service as part of the American Expeditionary Force of World War I.
